why i do what i do.
So here’s the deal. These days, everyone’s got a camera of some kind. Probably even a phone that takes pictures and videos. So you’ve got plenty of pictures already. In my opinion, you don’t need to hire a professional Photographer just for some (more) pictures of your kids – or even your family. You can snap pictures of your baby’s first Christmas, or ask a friend to get a shot of the whole family together when you’re at a social event. (Or if you’re like me, use Instagram to share every moment with friends and family right there on the spot.) But… I want you to have a piece of photographic art on your wall that you’ll treasure for a lifetime. Or a beautiful album full of images. Not just to show off to guests in your home, but mostly, to be re-discovered and appreciated on an entirely different level 30 (or 100) years from now. Or for your children’s children to find in your attic after you’re gone. They should find a piece of art that is a part of their family’s history. Right?
And when I first started my journey in photography, that’s what it was about. It wasn’t just to have some pics to share on Facebook. (Although I do love those too.) I started this journey because I wanted timeless, artistic, beautiful photos of my own children. I wanted to capture my son’s long eyelashes, the way the light fell across his tiny baby nose, his curious little expressions. I crave images that will remind me of how these moments feel. Believe it or not, I had no intention of making it a business of it; that just sort of found me. And I’m so glad it did. I could not be happier to be able to create photos for others that they can treasure. I truly value photography as an art, and I hope you do too.
I want to create those images for you, whether you want to capture your newborn baby’s features in his first days (and you really should), your children’s expressions as they are today, or your own gorgeous self.
Please, take the time to browse through the images on the site. If my style speaks to you, and you’re looking for something more than just another round of cute pictures, seriously, let’s talk. Today.
who i am.
When I was a little girl, my favorite toys were crayons and paints. Watercolor and pastels and oils – I loved it all. And my art easel. I still remember the year that Santa Claus brought me the Crayola Caddy with a crayon for every color under the sun. I’ve always had a love for color and art, and I suppose I’ve always been somewhat of a visual artist at heart. But it wasn’t until I had my first baby, that I found a need to connect my vision and my heart. My camera allowed me to do that.
I’m a wife and a mom. I have two wonderful little boys, Leo and Max. And a handsome and incredibly supportive husband, Steven. Those three guys are my everything. They fill my heart, and not a day goes by that I don’t thank God for them. For real.
And, in case you’re still reading, here is some useless information about me:
I’ve never turned down homemade fudge.
I am not a fan of selective color, bluebonnet photos, or images with tons of props and posing. Not saying they’re bad – just not my style.
My celebrity crushes are Johnny Depp, Shakira, and Genevieve Gorder.
Before becoming a full-time Photographer, I got my degree in Marketing (at Texas A&M), and spent ten years working in ad agencies. (And yes, they do have beer and ping pong tables in the office. I miss that atmosphere.)
I think I’d be a pretty good Interior Designer, with some training.
